Ewing, NJ… Senior Stephanie Herrick (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) and junior Jianna Spadaccini (Butler, NJ/Butler) will each have a shot at garnering All-American honors in the 800 meters as both runners from The College of New Jersey advanced into the finals with strong performances at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Friday.
The championships conclude on Saturday at Marietta College.
Herrick, who was the national runner-up in the event a year ago, won her heat with a time of 2:12.84, while Spadaccini actually had a better time, but placed second in her heat with a clocking of 2:11.96. The final is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday with the top eight earning All-American honors.
Sophomore Meryl Wimberly (Farmingdale, NJ/Colts Neck) also competed in the event and finished with a time 2:19.25.
Junior Priscilla Senyah (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) competed in the 100-meter high hurdles and placed third in her heat as she posted a time of 14.75 seconds.
