Lawrence, GA… The College of New Jersey’s Jackie Shtemberg (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) run through singles action at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championships came to a close as the junior fell in the national semifinals on Saturday in Georgia.

Shtemberg started the day with her third straight victory in the tournament as she disposed of Amanda Wu from Carnegie Mellon University by the scores 6-2 and 7-5. She then faced Lorne McManigie from Emory University and saw her bid to move into the title match come up just short, 7-5 and 6-3. By advancing to the semis, she secured All-American honors.

This also marked the furthest any Lion netter has advanced in the NCAA Division III Championships under ninth-year head coach Scott Dicheck. In the fall of 2007, Shtemberg was crowned the ITA National Singles Champion.

She capped her successful spring season with a record of 15-2.

The event was being hosted by Oglethorpe University and the Gwinnett Sports Commission.
