Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse program had a pair of players earn Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association/US Lacrosse All-American honors with one landing on the first team and another on the second.
Sophomore Alison Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) garnered her first All-American citation as a Lion as she was named IWLCA/US Lacrosse First Team. Senior Katie Reuther (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) was honored for the second straight year as she was named IWLCA/US Lacrosse Second Team. She was a first-team honoree in 2008.
Jaeger, who was one of only two sophomores to secure a spot on the first team, had a big year for the Lions as she was named the 2009 New Jersey Athletic Conference Attack Player of the Year. Jaeger led the conference and the Lions in scoring with 65 goals and 80 points. She also finished with a team-leading 64 draw controls and 32 ground balls. In addition, she was an IWLCA All-Boardwalk Region First Team pick. It just two seasons at TCNJ, Jaeger has racked up 111 goals and 142 points in 38 games.
Reuther had a balanced season with 52 points on 24 goals and 28 assists, while being recognized as the NJAC Midfielder of the Year and an All-Boardwalk Region First Team selection. She added to her well-rounded game with 46 draw controls and 31 ground balls. Reuther finished her standout career with the Lions with 58 goals and 40 assists for 98 points.
Both players also received All-NJAC First Team accolades.
The Lions went 16-3 on the season advancing to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals. The team also won the first NJAC Championship in conference history going a perfect 4-0 in those games.
