Meet results
New York, NY ... The College of New Jersey men's and women's indoor track and field teams braved the weather conditions to compete against a field of schools from all divisions at the Fastrack Invitational held in New York city.
Senior
Ashley Krauss (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) led the Lions with a fifth place finish in the weight throw. Krauss launched a toss of 14.04 meters, which was the best of any Division III athlete competing at the meet.
Junior
Cristina D'Amato (Madison, NJ/Madison) placed eighth with a throw of 11.53 imeters in the shot put. Teammate
Mary Chismar (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) took 11th in the same event with a throw of 11.44 meters.
Seniors
Senyah Priscilla (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) and
Jianna Spadaccini (Butler, NJ/Butler) continued their successful seasons on the track with solid performances. Priscilla placed eighth in the 60-meter dash posting a time of 7.86 seconds. Spadaccini finshed 11th in the 400-meter race with a time of 57.71. Junior
Meryl Wimberly (Farmingdale, NJ/Colts Neck) placed 18th in that same event with a time of 58.39.
In other events, sophomore
Cassy Valdes (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) ran a time of 2:29.96 in the 800-meter race, senior
Meghan Miller (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) posted 9.73 in the 60-meter hurdles, and sophomore
Cori Davis (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) placed 12th in the long jump landing at 4.94 meters.
In the men's competition, senior
Steve Liccketto (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights) led TCNJ placing fourth in the weight throw event posting a distance of 15.72 meters. His effort was tops amongst all Division III competitors. Classmate
Zach Goldstein (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) finished two slots behind him with a toss of 14.93 meters good for sixth place.
Junior
Alexander Necovski (Watchung, NJ/Watchung HIlls) placed 10th in the shot put with a throw of 13.65.
Junior
Rob Nihen (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) ran well finishing 13th in the 1-mile race posting a time of 4:18.13. Freshman
Andy Gallagher (Newfoundland, NJ/West Milford) placed 16th in the 3000 meters running the event in 8:53.27.
Junior
Kyle Gilroy (Oak Ridge, NJ/West Milford) continued his strong season placing 10th in the 60-meter hurdle event posting a time of 8.40. Freshman
Robert Searby (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) and senior
Steve Murray (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) ran times of 50.31 and 50.32 to finish back-to-back in the 400-meter event.
The men's and women's teams are back in action on March 5 and 6 when they travel to Smiths College to compete in the ECAC Championships.
