TCNJ track and field compete in opening day of ECAC Championships

Friday meet results

Northampton, Mass. ... The College of New Jersey men's and women's track and field teams had a light opening day at the 2010 ECAC Division III Track and Field Championships held at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. The men's team currently standing in fifth place amongst 63 teams.

Senior Priscilla Senyah (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) and junior Kyle Gilroy (Oak Ridge, NJ/West Milford Twp) each posted top times in the preliminary 55-meter hurdles event as they head into the finals today. Senyah finished with an NCAA provisional time of 8.22 and also posted the third-fastest 55-meter dash time in preliminaries at 7.22 seconds. Gilroy registered the top time in the men's hurdles at 7.78.

Junior Rob Nihen (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) placed fourth in the 5000-meter race with a time of 15:03.51. The men's distance medley took seventh placed finsihing in 10:17.15, and the women's team took second in the 4x200 relay posting a time of 1:30.58.

Competition continues today as senior Dennie Waite (Little Silver, NJ/Red Bank Regional), freshman Bobby Searby (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.), senior Michelle Wallace (Emerson, NJ/Emerson), and junior Sarah Wehrhan (Dodge City, KS/The Peddie School) will be amongst several Lions targeting an ECAC championship and NCAA qualifying times.

A total of 63 men's teams and 62 women's teams are competing to be crowned this year's ECAC Team Champions.
