Pittman, NJ... Four student-athletes from The College of New Jersey athletes received weekly honors by the New Jersey Athletic Conference for their athletic performances.
Senior Priscilla Senyah (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial), Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, senior Dennie Waite (Little Silver, NJ/Red Bank Regional), Male Track Athlete of the Week, sophomore Lauren Fitzsimmons (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), Softball Pitcher of the Week, and freshman Kelly Hommen (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood), Softball Rookie of the Week, all received honors.
Senyah set a TCNJ record winning the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.13. Her finish was also an NCAA automatic qualifying time. Senyah added a second-place finish in the 55-meter dash with an NCAA provisional time of 7.25. Waite earned an ECAC title with his first-place finish in the 1-mile run. Waite posted a time of 4:14.45 to earn the Lions a full ten points.
Senyah and Waite were heavy contributors to both the men’s and women’s teams placing second at the 2010 Division III ECAC Championships this past weekend.
Fitzsimmons picked up a win in her only appearance as she fired a two-hitter in a 12-1 win over Dominican University with that game going five innings. The sophomore struck out eight and didn’t allow an earned run.
Hommen got her collegiate career off to a fast start helping the softball team win its first two games of the season. She picked up two hits in the season-opening 8-3 win over Rochester and then boasted a 3-for-3 performance in a 12-1 triumph over Dominican University. Hommen also drove in a pair of runs and scored three times.
