National semifinalist Jackie Shtemberg.

Fredericksburg, VA... For the second straight year, The College of New Jersey's Jackie Shtemberg (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) saw her quest for a national title come up short in the semifinals as the Lion senior saw her standout career come to a close on Saturday in Fredericksburg VA.

Shtemberg started the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles Championship as the seventh seed and advanced to the final four competitors for the second straight season. After opening with a pair of wins on Friday, the Lion senior netted a huge win in the quarterfinals with a straight set win over Carnegie Mellon's Lauren Chen, who was the fourth seed. Shtemberg won that match by the scores of 6-4, 6-2.

In the semifinals, Shtemberg faced off against Williams College's Grace Baljon and started quickly winning the opening set 6-1. Baljon battled back to win the next two sets (6-2, 6-4) and moving onto the finals.

By advancing to the semis, she secured All-American honors for the second straight season.

Shtemberg finished her senior season with a 27-6 record in singles play with those 27 wins tying a career-high. She ranks third all-time in program history with 92 wins in singles play and is second on the all-time list in doubles wins with 81. Overall, she has 173 combined wins putting her third in program history.
