Ewing, NJ ... The College of New Jersey women's track and field team received more notoriety this past week when rising senior
Miriam Khan (Titusville, NJ/Hopewell Valley) was featured in an article posted on NCAA.com. The Lions finished eighth as a team at the 2010 NCAA Track and Field Championships held in Berea, OH this past May.
Khan won the national championship in the 100-meter dash and was joined by six teammates who earned All-American honors. Senior
Jianna Spadaccini (Butler, NJ/Butler) placed second in the 800-meter race followed by junior
Meryl Wimberly (Farmingdale, NJ/Colts Neck) who finished fourth.
Senior
Priscilla Senyah (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) was cited for All-American honors placing seventh in the 100-meter high hurdles. Junior
Tiffany Etheredge (Newark, NJ/Central) and freshman
Kim Shelus (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) joined Khan and Senyah in the 4x100 relay and placed seventh in nation.
Senior
Michelle Wallace (Emerson, NJ/Emerson) earned All-American honorable mention honors for this 13th place finish in the 5,000-meter event.
Head coach
Phil Jennings was named 2010 New Jersey Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and assistant coach
Justin Lindsey was cited by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as National Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.
