Ewing, NJ…The men's and women's track and field teams at The College of New Jersey enjoyed plenty of success this spring capturing the 2010 New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship, but both squads also excelled in the classroom as they were recognized by the United States Track & Field & Cross Country Coaches Association for academic excellence as Scholar Teams of the Year in Division III.
The squads earned the distinction as a result of being the highest-placing teams with at least a 3.10-cumulative grade-point-average at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championship.
The Lion women were one of 106 teams honored as they boasted a team GPA of 3.21, while the men's squad had a GPA of 3.26 and was among 68 programs cited.
TCNJ's women's squad picked up their 18th straight title and the men reeled in their 13th straight. The women then went on to place eighth at the 2010 NCAA Division III Championship, while the men also made their presence felt at the national event finishing in the top 50.
