Ewing, NJ … A pair of Army Reserves Officer Training Corps (ROTC) students, who are also student-athletes at The College of New Jersey, participated in,
Carry the Load, which is a 27-day, 2000-mile relay to honor fallen heroes of our nation.
Junior football player
Alton Kenney of Enfield, Connecticut; and sophomore tennis player
Sarah Lippincott participated in a Ruck March for 6.8 miles beginning at 6 a.m. in the morning. The mission that stretches in time from April 30 through May 27 began in West Point, NY and will finish in Dallas, TX. The slogan for the cause is, '2000 Miles. 27 Days. One Mission.'
The purpose of
Carry the Load is to raise awareness and funding for families of fallen heroes. There are three primary ways to show support for the cause. An individual can register to walk in a leg of the national relay when it comes through your community, donate to support families of fallen heroes, or visit their facebook page and share the “I Carry the Load” badge to join the virtual relay.
Kenney has created his own facebook page in hopes of raising $1,000 by Memorial Day. His page can be found by clicking

In 1919, Princeton ROTC began training officers to lead the nation's sons and daughters, and preparing Princetonians for distinguished careers in many diverse fields. The program now also includes cadets from The College of New Jersey, Rider University and Rowan University. TCNJ and Rider cadets belong to the Lion Company, and Rowan cadets belong to the Devil Company of Tiger Battalion.
The mission of the Arm ROTC is to recruit, educate, train, and motivate cadets so that each graduate will have the character, leadership, and other attributes essential to progressive and continuing development as an officer in the U.S. Army.
