Ewing, NJ... The College of New Jersey wrestling team won all 10 weight classes as the Lions cruised past visiting King's College 46-0 on Wednesday in their home opener.
 
Prior to the match, a special ceremony was held that honored a number of former Lions who have continued to promote the sport as high school coaches. Joining the ceremony was Nancy Icenhower, former Lion All-American David Icenhower Jr. and Jared Icenhower, the family of long-time head coach David Icenhower. They took a moment to thank all of those in attendance in Packer Hall for their support in the recent passing of the hall-of-fame coach.
 
TCNJ (2-3) opened the match with a win by freshman Jason Goldschmidt (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) at 125. Classmate Devon LaFranco (Ledgewood, NJ/Roxbury) then posted an 11-6 victory at 133. Those wins gave the host a 6-0 lead.
 
A forfeit at 141 doubled TCNJ's lead to 12-0 before sophomore Nick Herring (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South) registered an 11-7 triumph at 149. Junior Antonio Mancella (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) made it five straight victories for the Lions at 157, running away with a 22-6 technical fall in 6:12.
 
Back-to-back forfeits at 165 and 174 extended the margin to 32-0.
 
At 184, freshman Kyle Lynch (Hazlet, NJ/Hazlet) earned an 11-3 major decision and senior Nathaniel Leer (Teaneck, NJ/ Teaneck) won 10-0 at 197 pounds.
 
Heavyweight Patrick Schinder (Forked River, NJ/Lacey) capped off the match in exciting fashion with a pin in 2:21. At the time of the pin, Schinder was trailing the match 4-1.
 
The Lions will be home again on Saturday, November 22 when they host TCNJ's Open in the Student Recreation Center.
