Ewing, NJ- The College of New Jersey women's soccer team has advanced to the sectional rounds of the NCAA Division III Championships. The Lions will not have to travel, as TCNJ is set to host a full slate of games this weekend.
The Lions (20-0) advanced to the sectional rounds after defeating Roger Williams University in the opening round 3-0, then Virginia Wesleyan University in the second round also by a final margin of 3-0. On Saturday, November 18th at 11:00 am the Lions will face Lynchburg College (20-3). Lynchburg advanced to the Sweet Sixteen after topping McDaniel College 1-0 in overtime, and Christopher Newport University 2-1.
In the second game, Messiah College (16-2-3) will square off against Massachusetts Institute of Technology (20-1-1) at 1:30 pm on the 18th. Messiah advanced to the sectional rounds after defeating Westfield State University 4-0, and University of Scranton 1-0. MIT downed Castleton University by a margin of 7-2, and Middlebury College 1-0.
The winners will compete for a chance to go to the Final Four on Sunday, November 19th at 1:00 pm. All games will be played in The College of New Jersey Soccer Complex.
