Lions win 4x400 relay, three others second at Princeton Relays

Meryl Wimberly was part of the winning 4x400 relay team and was third in the 800 meters.

Princeton, NJ... Taking to the track against a host of NCAA Division I programs, The College of New Jersey women's indoor track and field team held their at the Princeton Relays with numerous standout performances.

The Lions captured top honors in the 4x400 relay as the team of freshman Kayla Ghanavati (Seaville, NJ/Ocean City), senior Jianna Spadaccini (Butler, NJ/Butler), freshman Brielle Doremus (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex), and junior Meryl Wimberly (Farmingdale, NJ/Colts, Neck) teamed up for a winning time of 4:03.26. That was also an ECAC qualifying time.

Spadaccini added another ECAC mark in the 400 meters with a time of 58.75 seconds to place second, while senior Priscilla Senyah (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) used a NCAA provision time of nine-seconds flat to claim that same spot in the 60-meter hurdles.

In the 800 meters, the Lions had a pair of runners excel as sophomore Katie Nestor (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands) ran a swift time of 2:19.94 to finish second with Wimberly one spot behind her in third in 2:20.03. Both of those times were ECAC worthy.

In the field events, junior Sarah Wehrhan (Dodge City, KS/The Peddie School) earned a top-10 finish in the weight throw with a distance of 14.00 meters, missing an ECAC distance by a mere .05.
