Cedar Rapids, IA...A quartet of wrestlers from The College of New Jersey will return to the mat this weekend as they gear up for the 2010 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships in Cedar Rapids, IA.

The two-day event is taking place on March 5 and 6 at the U.S. Cellular Center. Wrestlers who finish in the top eight in their respective weight classes will be recognized as 2010 All-Americans. TCNJ has had at least one All-American each season since they started awarding the honor in 1972, racking up 134 during that time.

Participating in the tournament for TCNJ will be Dan Herr (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) at 133 pounds, Kyle Packer (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) at 165, Mike Denver (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional) at 184, and Ed Broderick (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) at 285.

Mike Denver
Denver is seeded fifth in his weight class and enters the tournament as one of only four competitors who have eclipsed the 40-win plateau. Denver boasts a mark of 42-2 and is three wins shy of tying John Johnson for the most wins in a season at 45. He opens the tournament facing Nate Murren from Ursinus College, who is 26-3 on the season.

At heavyweight, Broderick takes on seventh-seeded Mitch Sander of Coe College in his
Ed Broderick
NCAA debut. The junior earned a spot in the tournament winning his weight class at the Metropolitan Conference and has a mark of 27-7. Sander is 25-3.

Kyle Packer
Packer used a strong second semester to earn an automatic spot in the tournament claiming the 165-pound title at the conference championship. The sophomore is a modest 13-3 on the season and has reeled off 10 straight wins. His first challenge this weekend will be Joey Favia from Stevens Institute of Technology. Favia is 26-6 on the year.

Herr secured a spot in the tournament earning one of the conference's “wild cards”
Dan Herr
placing second at the METs. The sophomore is an impressive 31-6 on the season and faces seventh-seeded Nicholas Northern from Cornell College in the opening round. Northern is 21-7.

The opening round of the tournament gets underway at noon on Friday, March 5 with the finals slated for Saturday, March 6 at 8 p.m.
