Grantham, PA…The College of New Jersey men's soccer team faced the No. 2 ranked Falcons of Messiah College on Saturday night and came away with a 1-1 double overtime tie. TCNJ stands at 6-6-2 on the year, while Messiah is now 9-1-2.
Messiah tallied the first score as senior forward
Matt Dorsey (New Freedom, PA) tallied his third goal of the year giving his team the 1-0 lead until TCNJ's rookie midfielder
Anthony DiPalmo (Somerdale, NJ/Triton Regional) came through and scored his first career goal in the opening minutes of the second half of play.
TCNJ would hold on despite 22 Falcon shots and the two teams played to a 1-1 overtime tie after last year's game went to two overtimes as well, but Messiah came away with the 2-1 victory.
TCNJ's sophomore goalie
Eric Goldwaser (Wyckoff, NJ/Indian Hills) made six saves for the Lions, while Messiah's junior goalie
Jared Clugston (Red Hill, PA) made two saves in the match-up.
TCNJ returns to action on October 14 when they will host Richard Stockton College at 7:30 p.m. in Lions' Stadium.
