Lions fall to Muhlenberg, 2-0

The College of New Jersey's men's team hosted Muhlenberg College on Wednesday in TCNJ's Soccer Complex. The Mules came away with the 2-0 win to extend their win streak to three matches as they improve to 10-4-1 overall, while the Lions drop to 7-8-2.

Muhlenberg tallied a pair of first half goals to take a 2-0 lead. Senior Greg Leischner (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) converted a feed on a corner kick by freshman Cody Antonini (Lanhorne, PA/Neshaminy) at 4:47.

TCNJ's sophomore goalie Eric Goldwaser (Wyckoff, NJ/Indian Hills) earned a red card on a foul play that resulted in a penalty kick being awarded senior Billy Dalton (Sparta, NJ/Sparta). Dalton converted the penalty kick attempt and Goldwaser was ejected from the contest. Sophomore Chris Kulick (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) entered the game to replace Goldwaser, but the Lions played the remained of the contest down a man.

Muhlenberg's senior goalie Joseph Gogel (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) recorded three saves in earning his sixth shutout of the year and is now 10-4-1 in net for the Mules. For the Lions, Goldwaser recorded three saves in 26:43 minutes of work with one goal allowed, while Kulick picked up nine saves with one goal allowed in 63:17 minutes of action.

TCNJ returns to action on Saturday, October 25 hosting Ramapo College in a 1 p.m. NJAC match-up, while Muhlenberg College will host Haverford College also on October 25 at 4 p.m.
