Ewing, NJ – The College of New Jersey's men's team hosted Rutgers University-Newark on Wednesday night in the regular-season finale. TCNJ now stands at 9-8-2 overall and 5-4 in the NJAC, while Rutgers University-Newark drops to 9-9 overall and 2-7 in the league. With their victory on Wednesday, the Lions secured a spot in the NJAC tournament, marking the team's third appearance in the past four seasons.

TCNJ's senior Ryan McMahon (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) gave the Lions an early 1-0 lead as he converted the feed from rookie Ray Nelan (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights) at 1:52. The Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Nelan's older brother, senior Chris Nelan (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights) added a goal on a pass from junior Kevin Luber (Delran, NJ/Delran) at 21:01. The score would stand as a 2-1 final and Nelan's goal would be the game-winner, his fourth of the season and the ninth goal of his career.

Rutgers-Newark broke up the Lions' shutout bid when sophomore Robert Campos (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) tallied his fifth goal of the year on a pass from freshman Tom King (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) at 35:22.

TCNJ's sophomore goalie Eric Goldwaser (Wyckoff, NJ/Indian Hills) would turn away one shot on the night, while the Scarlet Raiders' sophomore goalie Kyle Perdelwitz (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) made a pair of saves in the contest. 

TCNJ earned the No. 5 seed in the upcoming NJAC Tournament and will travel to William Paterson University for a first round match-up on Saturday, November 1 at 6:00 p.m. Tickets for the NJAC tournament are $5 for adults and $2 for students, children and senior citizens.
