Union, NJ... Junior Briann McDonough (North Arlington, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) scored the game's only goal in the closing minutes as The College of New Jersey women's soccer team slipped past Kean University 1-0 on Saturday in the New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for both squads.
TCNJ is ranked eighth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III poll and remained undefeated on the season improving to 7-0 and 1-0 in the conference.
McDonough netted her team-leading fourth goal of the season with 3:35 remaining with freshman Allyson Anderson (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant) setting up the goal with an assist. Three of McDonough's four goals this year have been game winners.
The Lions dictated play for most of the game as they held a 25-6 edge in shots and a decisive 12-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior keeper Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) earned her fifth shutout of the season as she posted four saves in the win.
