Wayne, NJ... The College of New Jersey became the first team in the New Jersey Athletic Conference to reach six wins as the Lions overcame an early deficit to get past William Paterson University 2-1 on Saturday.
TCNJ, which is ranked 13th nationally, used that win over the Pioneers to stay undefeated in conference play at 6-0 as they sit atop the NJAC standings with 18 points. Overall, the Lions are 9-1.
The loss knocked the Pioneers to 1-5 in league play and 2-7 overall.

Sloan DePiero (Ramsey, NJ/Ramsey) netted the game winner midway through the second half as she picked up a loose ball in front of the net of deposited it in for her second tally of the season. That deciding goal came with 21:45 showing on the game clock.
In the opening half, William Paterson grabbed a 1-0 scoring a goal 12:08 into the game as that snapped an impressive scoreless streak 738:43 turned in by the teams defense and freshman keeper
Cristina Gacos (Sea Girt, NJ/Wall). That streak spanned over all or parts of 11 games as lasted 35 days.
While the team's defense has been playing well, senior
Brittany McGinley (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) continued her torrid scoring pace as she found the back of the net for the fourth straight game. Her eighth goal of the season tied the game at 1-1 with 15:04 left in the opening half.
Gacos picked up her ninth win of the season with a pair of saves.
TCNJ faces a tough test on Wednesday as the Lions host sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins University at Lions' Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
