Wilkes Barre, PA... The College of New Jersey wrestling team tacked on another victory to its winning streak as the Lions muscled their way to a 24-18 win at Wilkes University on Friday.
The win extend TCNJ's winning streak to 14 straight as the 14th-ranked Lions halted the 15th-ranked Colonels.
The Lions (18-1) won the opening two bouts as freshman
Steve Godine (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) won by injury default at 125 and sophomore
Dan Herr (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) recorded a pin at 133.
TCNJ added win another at 157 as freshman
Zach Zotollo (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) won by decision and two weight classes later, sophomore
Brian Broderick (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) also picked up a victory by decision at 174.
The final win of the dual meet for the Lions came at 184 pounds as junior
Mike Denver (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional) recorded a pin in 1:08.
Each team picked up five wins in the match, but TCNJ's two wins by fall proved the difference.
The Lions are on the road again on Monday, February 7 taking on another ranked opponent as they head to 23rd-ranked Delaware Valley College for a 7 p.m. dual meet.
