Box Score
Mahwah, NJ... Ramapo College overcame a late rally by The College of New Jersey with one of its own as the Roadrunners slipped past the Lions 3-2 in overtime in Mahwah.
Three goals were scored in the final 12 minutes with the deciding goal coming from Ramapo's Dan Walsh and even six minutes into the first overtime.
The loss squared TCNJ's overall record at 3-3, while the Roadrunners improved to 5-1. It was the New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
The Roadrunners opened the scoring with the only goal of the opening 45 minutes and protected that lead until the latter stages of the second. The Lions fought back to forge a 1-1 tie with 11:57 left in regulation as sophomore
Sean Casey (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) picked up his first goal of the season.
TCNJ took advantage of that momentum to claim its first lead of the game four minutes later thanks to a goal from senior
Anthony DiPalmo (Somerdale, NJ/Triton Regional). That unassisted goal was his first of the fall.
That lead, however, was short lived as Ramapo knotted the score at two-all three minutes later sending the game into overtime.
Lion keeper
Aaron Utman (Hopewell, NJ/Hopewell Valley) finished with four saves.
TCNJ continues its conference schedule on Tuesday, September 20 heading Richard Stockton College for a 7:30 p.m. contest with the Ospreys.
