A winner was the then determined on the criteria of which team scored the most points during the match, with York holding a slight 43-42 edge as both teams each finished with five wins. That put the Spartans into Saturday's semifinal against the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, while the Lions shift to the consolation bracket where they will face either Muskigum College or the United States Coast Guard Academy.
