Ewing, NJ… Stevens Institute of Technology spoiled the home opener for The College of New Jersey wrestling team as the Ducks won six straight bouts midway through the match to post a 24-9 victory on Wednesday.
 
The loss dropped the Lions to 0-1 after the match, while Stevens is an even 2-2.
 
The dual meet started at the 184-pound weight class with the Ducks getting on the board first. Tristan Hollenbaugh (Stony Point, NY/Don Bosco Prep) earned a 5-0 decision, but Lion junior Nathaniel Leer (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) scored a takedown with 20 seconds left in the third period to pull out a 3-1 victory. That win also tied the team scoring at 3-3.
 
Stevens reclaimed the lead when heavyweight Alex Moreno (Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) won 7-4 and added to that lead when the matches turned to the lighter weights with a decision at 125 and forfeit at 133. That run extended the visitor's lead to 15-3.
 
The Ducks continued their winning streak, collecting wins at 141, 149, and 157 pushing their lead to 24-3.
 
The Lions picked up a win at 165 pounds when sophomore Antonio Mancella (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) posted an 11-5 decision,  setting up the final bout between two ranked wrestlers.
 
At 174, TCNJ's top-ranked Zach Zotollo (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) faced 10^th-ranked Ryan Dormann (Mickleton, NJ) came away with 6-1 triumph to close the final gap to 24-9.
 
The Lions are back on the mat competing at the East Stroudsburg Open on Sunday, November 17.
