Doylestown, PA… Delaware Valley College recorded six wins in the 10 weight classes allowing the Aggies to post a 22-13 win over The College of New Jersey wrestling team on Friday in a match-up of nationally-ranked programs.
The win elevated eighth-ranked Delaware Valley to 9-3, while the 16
th-ranked Lions dipped to 11-7.
After the Aggies scored a win at 125 via decision, TCNJ got a boast as senior
Dan Herr (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls), who returned to the line after missing time with an injury, recorded a 3-0 decision at 133 pounds to tie the score.
Delaware Valley then won three straight weight classes to forge ahead 14-3, but the Lions stormed right back with three wins of their own. Fourth-ranked
John Darling (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) started that streak with an 8-1 win at 165, while
KC Murphy (Hamburg, NJ/Wallkill Valley) picked up a narrow 2-1 triumph at 174. That win closed the gap to 14-9.
Third-ranked
Brian Broderick (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) made it a one-point match 10-0 major decision at 184, but the Aggies closed out the match winning the final two weight classes.
The Lions close out the regular season tomorrow, February 16 facing another ranked opponent. TCNJ hosts 19
th-ranked Messiah College in Packer Hall at noon.
