Lions come away with 1-0 win at Richard Stockton

Senior Kendra Griffith had two saves in her fourth straight shutout.

Galloway, NJ... The College of New Jersey women's soccer team benefitted from an own goal by Richard Stockton College as the Lions picked up a valuable 1-0 conference road win on Wednesday.
 
The win kept the 10th-ranked Lions perfect in New Jersey Athletic Conference play at 3-0 and they improved to 8-1 overall.
 
This sets up Saturday's showdown with 16th-ranked Montclair State University. Both teams are in the midst of a three-way tie for first place in the conference standings, with Rowan University also being 3-0. Game time with the Red Hawks on Saturday is at 7 p.m. in Lions Stadium.
 
The loss squared Richard Stockton's record at 6-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
 
The only change on the scoreboard came with 18:31 left in the game when the Ospreys put the ball into their own net resulting in an own goal and a 1-0 edge for the Lions.
 
TCNJ did carry the play throughout the game directing 23 shots at the Osprey cage with 13 of them being on goal. Richard Stockton was limited to only a pair of shots in the game.
 
Senior keeper Kendra Griffith (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) and the rest of the defense kept their growing scoreless streak going as the Lions have not allowed a goal in the last 371:40. Griffith made a pair of saves for her fourth straight shutout and sixth on the season.
 
Osprey goalie Lauren Haynes had a solid night with 12 saves.
