Box Score Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's soccer team defeated New Jersey City University 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in TCNJ's Soccer Complex.

The Lions (5-7-2, 1-4 NJAC) captured their first New Jersey Athletic Conference win of the season as sophomores
Ryan Kaplan (Somerset, NJ/Frankllin), Nick Costelloe (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) and
Sean Etheridge (Oakland, NJ/Ramapo) each tallied goals in the victory.

Maciej Libucha (Woodland Park, NJ/Passaic Valley) registered his first solo shutout of the season, making six saves in the contest.

Kaplan got TCNJ on the board with his first collegiate goal. Junior
Jordan Kayal (Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) lofted a cross over the defensive line and Kaplan ran on to touch in the winner at the 38:47 mark of the game.

After the break, the Knights (1-11, 0-5 NJAC) battled to get the equalizer, but in the 73
rd minute, were whistled for a penalty kick. Costelloe buried the opportunity for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.

NJCU nearly cut the lead in half with 10 minutes to play when
Luis Cruz drilled a shot destined for the back of the net. But Libucha came up with a diving stop to his left to maintain the two-goal advantage.

With less than four minutes remaining in the game, TCNJ iced the match with its third goal of the afternoon. Etheridge dribbled in on the goalkeeper and tucked it away for his second tally of the year.

The Lions continue their conference schedule this Wednesday night when they visit Rutgers University-Camden for a game at 7 p.m. NJCU travels to Ramapo College for a 3 p.m. match.
