Ewing, NJ... The College of New Jersey women's soccer team posted its 11
th shutout of the season as they defeated Rutgers University-Camden 4-0 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Thursday afternoon in TCNJ's Soccer Complex.

The underclassmen led the way as three freshmen and a sophomore each scored a goal. The victory lifts the 19
th-ranked Lions to an 11-2 season record and  5-1 mark in the conference. The Scarlet Raptors dropped to 5-8-1 overall with the loss and 2-4 in the NJAC.

Freshmen
Kathryn Bednarsky (Hackettstown, NJ/Gill St. Bernards), Abigail Emmert (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks East) and
Jessica Goldman (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) knocked in the first three goals for TCNJ, while sophomore
Lauren Malajian (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley) capped the scoring with a goal late in the second half. The Lions found the back of the net twice in each period.

Just over 26 minutes into the game, sophomore
Christine Levering (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville)sent a cross from the right end-line and Bednarsky headed home the eventual game-winner into the top of the net. A little over three minutes later, sophomore
Brianna Petro (Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) took the ball down the left side and sent a ground pass in front. Emmert hit a first-time shot past the keeper for her second goal of the season.

After the intermission, TCNJ continued to dominate play. (They finished the contest with a 35-3 advantage in shots.) Goldman drilled a shot from just outside the box, but it rang off the cross bar and back into play. In the 66
th minute, Goldman got her goal as she redirected a cross from junior
Brianna Cummings (Belmar, NJ/Ocean County) into the corner for her fifth goal of the season.

Later in the half, senior
Gina Caprara (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) sent a corner kick into the box that Malajian quickly deposited for her first goal of the season.

Lion keeper
Kendra Griffith (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) picked up her 10
th win of the season and her eighth shutout, stopping both shots on goal she faced. Scarlet Raptors goalkeeper sophomore
Angela Martorano (Gloucester Twp., NJ/Triton Regional) did an outstanding job in net and finished with eight saves.

TCNJ heads to Ramapo College on Saturday, October 18 for a 1 p.m. contest with the Roadrunners, while Rutgers-Camden is in action at that same time hosting Montclair State University.
