Ewing, NJ ... On Saturday, April 26, TCNJ student
Josh Lewkowicz took advantage of a busy day of athletic events on campus to test out his DJI Phantom 2 Aerial Video Drone. He captured footage of the College's athletics facilities, while the Lions' baseball, softball, lacrosse, and track and field teams were in action.
The video equipment is owned by Lewkowicz, who is a student worker for the department of communications, marketing and brand management. The division of advancement is planning a variety of projects that would potentially use aerial footage to show the campus from a perspective that is rarely (or never) been seen. The drone is a remote-controlled quadcopter with an attached GoPro camera that enables aerial cinematography and still-shots at professional-grade qualty. It flies at an average altitude of below 400 feet and tops out at 35 miles per hour traveling speed. The test flight was coordinated with and under the supervision of the communications department.
Lewkowicz, who captained the winning team of the Campus Movie Fest for the second straight year this spring, was recently selected by DreamWorks for a paid internship this summer. He will be working with DreamWorks Animation for 12 weeks and reports to Los Angeles, CA on June 2. Lewkowicz is finishing his junior year and is an interactive multimedia major with a minor in communication studies and marketing.
