Box Score Ewing, NJ... The College of New Jersey women's soccer erupted for eight goals first-half in its season opener as they posted an impressive 10-0 victory over Cedar Crest College at TCNJ's Soccer Complex.

The 10
th-ranked Lions received tallies from seven different players led by a hat trick from senior
Gina Caprara (New Providence, NJ/New Providence). Junior
Christina Roach (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) knocked in a pair of goals and also dished out an assist.

It took all of 39 seconds for freshman
Elizabeth Thoresen (Colts Neck, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) to notch her first collegiate goal as she took a feed from junior
Taylor Lusardi (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) and rippled the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Sophomore
Christine Levering (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville), who led TCNJ with 11 goals a year ago, followed with her first tally of the season six minutes later.

At the 23:12 mark of the opening period, rookie
Hannah Richman (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township) followed her own shot to knock in her first collegiate winner to push the lead to 3-0.

Caprara then exploded for three goals in less than six minutes to put the game out of reach. Caprara nearly matched her scoring output of four goals last season with three in the opening half of game one.

Freshman
Kathryn Bednarsky (Hackettstown, NJ/Gill St. Bernards) became the third freshman to score in her inaugural match when she positioned herself off the far post and redirected a shot past the goalkeeper to give the Lions an 8-0 lead at the break.

Roach punched in her second goal of the contest just two minutes after the intermission and junior
Justine Larocca (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) capped the scoring with an unassisted tally.

Seniors
Tara Fisher (Glenwood, NJ/Pope John Paul XXIII) and
Kendra Griffith (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) coasted to a combined shutout victory in goal. Cedar Crest keeper
Nalani Velasquez (Howell, NJ/Howell) stopped six shots.
