Galloway, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to John Carroll University on Friday night in the Stockton Seashore Classic hosted by Richard Stockton College.

The Lions (2-2) fell behind early, but knotted the match just 24 seconds into the second half when sophomore Sean Etheridge (Oakland, NJ/Ramapo) registered an unassisted tally. It was the first goal of the season for Etheridge, who scored six times during his rookie season.

The Blue Streaks (2-1) went ahead for good in the 67th minute as Jimmy Mattina headed in the game-winner off a corner kick from Brian Potocnik.

Etheridge had a chance to even the score in the 73rd minute, but his shot was stopped by goalkeeper Zach Ferenbach. Ferenbach finished with two saves as did Lion keeper Maciej Libucha (Woodland Park, NJ/Passaic Valley). John Carroll held a 14-5 advantage in shots during the match.

TCNJ can quickly shake off the one-goal loss as they return to the pitch tomorrow to take on Brooklyn College at 3:00 p.m.
