Mahwah, NJ... The College of New Jersey men's soccer team (8-4-2, 2-4 NJAC) used a three-goal second half performance to beat conference rival Ramapo (7-7-2, 1-5-1 NJAC) by a score of 4-2 on the road for their eighth win of the season.
Â
Things are looking up for the group, as they now have two straight conference wins and have climbed back into the thick of the playoff hunt in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
Â
Junior
Nick Costelloe (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) scored twice for the Lions, a team-leading 10 goals now to his credit, one a pivotal strike to give the Lions an early second-half lead. Â The other put the game away in the waning time of the half.Â
Â
Lion keeper
Jake Nesteruk (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) had a solid game, as well, allowing only two goals on six shots, and keeping the Roadrunners from catching up after TCNJ took an early lead in the second half.
Â
Other goals for the Lions were scored by
Sean Etheridge (Oakland, NJ/Ramapo) and
Greg Kaye (Morganville, NJ/Marlboro). It was the second goal of the season for each player.
Â
TCNJ looks to pick up another key conference win on Wednesday, October 21 when they head to New Jersey City University for a 3 p.m. start with the Gothic Knights.
