Wayne, NJ... The College of New Jersey women's soccer team experienced a game of unexpected adversity in a game at William Patterson University on Saturday night as they dominated the Pioneers only to come away with a scoreless draw.
Â
TCNJ is 11-1-4 and 6-0-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference with 20 points, still in the lead in conference play and are one point away from clinching the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament. William Patterson improves to 4-9-3 with a 1-5-2 record in the NJAC.
Â
It was a game of missed chances for the Lions, striking an impressive 22 shots on goal, but failing to score thanks to a brilliant performance from William Patterson's goal keeper,
Kat Clint (Flanders, NJ/Mt. Olive). Â Clint turned away 14 of those shots to a shutout of the seventh-ranked Lions.
Â
Sophomore
Jessica Goldman (Belle Meade, NJ/Montgomery) and
Elizabeth Thoresen (Colts Neck, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) each had five shots on goal in a game that the Lions dominated in both pace and in opportunities.
Â
Goldman and junior
Lauren Malajian (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley) also each hit the cross bar in the final 1:36 of regulation.
Â
They allowed only one shot on goal to their own 22 opportunities, as keeper
Briyanna Femia (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) stopped that lone shot for the shutout.
Â
The Lions will attempt to close out the season with a win in Glassboro against Rowan University on Wednesday, October 28th before the conference playoffs await them.
