TCNJ's playoff hopes dashed by Rowan

Glassboro, NJ... The College of New Jersey men's soccer team saw its late push to earn a spot in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament come up just short as the Lions fell 2-1 in overtime at Rowan University on Thursday.

TCNJ began the night with a four-game conference winning streak and needed a win to become one of the six teams headed for the tournament. The Profs, however, scored late in regulation and then scored the deciding goal on a penalty kick by Shane Kohler with 1:13 in the first 10-minute overtime to secure their playoff spot.

The Lions finished the season with a 10-5-2 record and went 4-5 against NJAC opponents.

The goal for TCNJ came 6:26 into the second half when freshman Nick Sample (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) knocked in a rebound. The initial shot on the play came off of the foot of sophomore Michael Kassak (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown), who pick up an assist.

The Profs tied the contest in the final 10 minutes when Derick Carpio scored on a rebound with 7:47 left in regulation.

Lion keeper Jake Nesteruk (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) finished with six saves.
