Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Osprey blank Lions, 2-0

Ewing, NJ … Stockton University scored single goals in the first and second half to top The College of New Jersey men's soccer team 2-0 in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night in Lions Stadium.

The Lions fell to 7-6-1 overall and 3-3 in the conference play. The Ospreys improved to 3-7-4 and 1-3-2 in league play.

It marked the third time TCNJ was shut out this season and each of them have come in conference losses. Stockton goalkeeper Michael Lescano made four saves to register his second shutout and third win.

Lions keeper Dan Walsh played an outstanding game in goal for TCNJ, making a season-best eight saves, including three from point-blank range.

Walsh made his first clutch save on Anthony Colofranson in the 21st minute. Colofranson got free on a through ball and Walsh came off his line to deflect the shot wide. At the 22:43 mark, Stockton got on the board when Zach Burns served a ball over the defensive line. Alex Kourahanis ran onto it and finished to score his third goal of the fall. The tally by Kourahanis snapped a four-game scoreless streak for the Ospreys.

Just over 15 minutes into the second half, Stockton was awarded a penalty kick following a foul in the box. Colofranson drilled his attempt, but Walsh made the initial stop. The ball bounced out front and Colofranson followed his shot and finished to give the Ospreys a 2-0 lead.

TCNJ nearly got on the board with 20 minutes remaining. Sean Etheridge took a pass on the left side from Michael Kassak and one-timed it off the post. Three minutes later, Thomas Hogue sent a pass back to an open Mateo Panizza at the top of the box. He ripped a shot, but Lescano was there to stop the shot.

Both teams had quality chances in the final 10 minutes, but score remained unchanged and Stockton picked up its first NJAC win.
TCNJ returns to conference play on Saturday when they visit Montclair State University for a match slated for 7 p.m.
