Gettysburg, P.A. … The College of New Jersey women's soccer team traveled to Gettysburg College tonight and earned an impressive 5-1 victory, with all of their goals coming in the first half of the game. The ninth ranked Lions now have an overall record of 9-0-1.

TCNJ got on the board just eight minutes into the game on a goal from
Jessica Goldman (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery), her fifth of the season.

The Lion's increased the lead to 2-0 one minute later when
Christine Levering (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) converted on a free kick. The senior now leads the team in scoring with eight goals on the season.

Haley Bodden (Princeton, NJ/Princeton) added TCNJ's third goal on a pass from
Elizabeth Thoresen (Colts Neck, NJ/Red Bank Catholic). The ball deflected off a defender and into the net.

Freshman
Taylor Nolan (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) scored her first collegiate goal with less than four minutes remaining in the first half.
Sarah Marion (Hightstown, NJ/The Peddie School) assisted on Nolan's rebound tally.

With halftime quickly approaching, the Lions added a fifth goal.
Callen Vandermay (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) found the back of the net on a corner kick. Vandermay's tally was also the first of her collegiate career.

Gettysburg netted the lone goal of the second half to avoid being shutout. Lauren Miesemer put the Bullets on the board.

The goal in the 83rd minute by Gettysburg broke a 6-game shutout streak and was the first goal surrendered by the TCNJ defense in over 669 minutes of play.

Despite outshooting Gettysburg 11-3 during the second half, goal keeper Taylor Sehdev stopped every shot that came her way after entering the game in relief.

Jessica Weeder (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) earned the victory in goal for TCNJ and currently boasts a goals against average of 0.42 goals per game.

TCNJ is back in action on Saturday, October 8 when they travel to Ramapo College for an NJAC contest. The game is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
