Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey women's basketball team posted a 61-41 victory over Delaware Valley University on Saturday afternoon in its final home game of the 2016 season.

The Lions (4-5) used a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Aggies (2-6) to propel them to their second straight win.

Junior
Charlotte Schum (East Hanover, NJ/Morris Catholic) and junior
Chiara Palombi (Manasquan, NJ/Manasquan) both shot the ball well in the game. Schum was 5-of-9 from the floor for a team-high 14 points, while Palombi dropped in 5-of-7 shots for 12 points. Sophomore
Kate O'Leary (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) finished just a shy of a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

The Lions struggled with their shooting touch early in the contest, connecting on just 5-of-24 shots. But sophomore
Nicole Shatsky (Marlboro, NJ/Marlboro) drilled a three-pointer and freshman
Christine Woods (River Edge, NJ/River Dell) followed with a pull-up jumper to spark TCNJ to an 18-12 lead with 4:22 remaining in the half.

Danielle Skedzielewski found the bottom of the net for three moments later, but Schum drove the lane for a basket to counter. Junior
Cindy Napolitano (Wall, NJ/St. Rose) then hit from downtown off a feed from Schum to cap a 10-3 run and give TCNJ a 23-15 advantage at the break.

The Lions stretched their lead to 10 points aft the third. When Schum deposited a three-pointer and then converted a baseline layup with seven minutes remaining in the contest, it gave TCNJ a sizeable 49-33 lead. A quick dish by junior
Nikki Schott (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills) to Palombi in the paint resulted in another two points as the Lions to secured the non-conference triumph.

Schott finished with seven points, seven rebounds, and a blocked shot. Senior
Kim Dana (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) drained a pair of threes to chip in with eight points, four boards and three steals.

Skedzielski netted a game-high 18 points for Delaware Valley.

TCNJ will enjoy a break from competition for the holidays, and will return to action at the Juniata Tournament. The Lions will face DeSales University on Thursday, December 29
th at 2 p.m. and Arcadia University on Friday, December 30
th at noon. Following the tournament, TCNJ will play six straight New Jersey Athletic Conference contests.
