Senior Day
Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey women's basketball team returned the win column with a resounding 74-41 victory over New Jersey City University on Saturday afternoon in Packer Hall.
 
The Lions shot better than 60 percent in the opening period to streak to a 30-8 lead and never looked back.
 
Prior to the game, the team honored their three standout seniors 
Angelica Esposito (Lincroft, NJ/St. John Vianney), 
Christina Merlin (North Brunswick, NJ/Bishop Ahr), and 
Jess Lynch (Newtown, CT/Newtown). Each exhibited the strong play and leadership they have shown over the past four years, punctuated by a flurry of points and rebounds throughout the contest.
 
Esposito tallied a team-high 20 points and was 4-for-7 from beyond the arc, while Lynch added 10 points and four rebounds. Merlin had a great afternoon under the boards, pulling down a team-best seven rebounds. Esposito now has 903 points in her career and 148 three-point field goals (third in program history).
 
Sophomore 
Nikki Schott (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills) had a strong game inside, registering a season-high 14 points and five blocked shots. Junior 
Katy Amato (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) chipped in with eight points on 3-of-4 shooting
 
TCNJ took advantage of NJCU turnovers, as they converted 23 mishandlings into 30 points. They also received great contributions from its nonstarters, with 31 points coming from the bench.
 
The Lions will continue their conference schedule this upcoming Wednesday when they host Ramapo College at 6 p.m.
