Senior Day Insert
Ewing, N.J. … The College of New Jersey softball team swept Ramapo College in their last regular season doubleheader this afternoon. They won the first game 4-0 and the second 3-2. After the game the team took the time to honor their six senior players for their hard work and dedication to the program.

Game 1: TCNJ 4, Ramapo 0

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Lions exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two run double to left field by senior
Deanna Utter (Byram, NJ/Lenape Valley Regional) and one run singles by both
Jess McGuire (Stockton, NJ/Hunterdon Central Regional) and
Steph Vuono (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern).

TCNJ's offense shut down any chances by Ramapo for the rest of the game to secure the 4-0 victory.

Sam Platt (Cedar Grove, NJ/Mount Saint Dominic Academy) recorded her 15th win of the season as she pitched the entire contest. She struck out seven batters and allowed just three hits.

Leading the Lions offensively were Utter, who was 2-for-3 with two RBI,
Gaby Bennett (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert), who went 2-for-2, and Vuono, who was 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Game 2: TCNJ 3, Ramapo 2

The Lions took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Madison Levine (Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) walked to get on base and then
Jess Santelli (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) doubled to left field to send her home.
Â
Ramapo loaded the bases in the top of the third with one out, but TCNJ got out of that jam to keep the lead.

The Roadrunners tallied two runs in the fifth inning to take a brief lead.
Â
In the bottom of the fifth, Levine got on first base when she was hit by a pitch. Utter then blasted a triple down the right field line to drive her home.
Jenna Schwartz (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville) came in to pinch hit and although she got out on the play, she allowed Utter to score.

The Lions held off the Roadrunners in the last two innings to get the 3-2 win and complete the sweep.

Katie Hourihan (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) pitched 2 and one third innings and struck out one.
Sara Bielamowicz (Lawrence Township, NJ/Lawrence) came in for relief and finished out the game. She allowed just two hits while striking out one.

Utter and Santelli led the team offensively, both going 1-for-2 with one RBI.

TCNJ finishes the regular season with an overall record of 26-13 and 13-5 in the NJAC. With these two wins they are tied for second in the conference.
