Ewing, NJ--The College of New Jersey men's soccer team (5-8-3, 1-4-3 NJAC) was defeated by Kean University (9-6-1, 4-4 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon by a final tally of 3-2.

The Lions opened up the scoring in the 26th minute when Nick Sample (New Egypt NJ/New Egypt) found the back of net after making a beautiful move to get past the Cougar defender. Sample shot the ball from about 15 yards out, and converted for his third goal of the 2017 campaign. Neither team was able to follow up in the first half with a goal, and the shot total was close as Kean had the slight advantage 6-4.

The Cougars tied it up in the 65th minute, when Alex Norgeia converted on a penalty kick. Five minutes later, Vinceroy Nelson ran down a ball inside of the box from a high pass from just inside of midfield from Jorge Castro, and scored to make it 2-1 Cougars. The Lions would not give up, and in the 70th minute tied up the game with a header from Ryan Vazquez (Kinnelon, NJ/Seton Hall Prep). Peter Dresch (Highland Park, NJ/St. Joseph) sent a cross in front of the keeper that was popped up in the air, and Vazquez out-jumped the defenders and punched the header in to ice the game up at 2-2. The Cougars were able to net the game winning goal in the 85th minute, as Kasmi Udodi scored off of his own rebound. His first shot was blocked by a Lion defender, however his second shot was good to give the Cougars the lead.
