Doylestown, PA… The College of New Jersey wrestling team competed in a close match, winning six bouts on their way to a 21-19 victory over Delaware Valley Friday night.

Five Lions were victorious by decision, with Ryan Erwin (Milford, NJ / Delaware Valley) earning six points for his pin to ensure the win.

Luis Rivera (Landisville, NJ / Buena) got the Lions off to a quick start, winning the first bout of the night. After the Erwin pin, JT Beirne (Fanwood, NJ / Scotch Plains-Fanwood) extended the lead to 12-5.

Kyle McIntyre (Mount Laurel, NJ / Lenape) and Nick Herring (Middletown, NJ / Middletown South) earned back-to-back wins at 165 and 174 pounds respectively. With the win, Herring, who is currently ranked ninth by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, improved his record to 19-1 on the season.

The Lions got one final victory from Pat Schinder (Forked River, NJ / Lacey) to put the match out of reach.

TCNJ returns home Saturday, February 11 at 12:00 pm when they will face Messiah College. Prior to the match, the team will honor its three graduating senior members.
