Wilkes Barre, PA…The College of New Jersey wrestling team won just four of ten bouts as they fell to Wilkes College 27-16 Friday night.
The Lions struggled early losing the first three bouts of the night.
Nick Herring (Middletown, NJ / Middletown South) finally got TCNJ in the win column at 165, earning a 9-2 decision.
Dan Kilroy (Wayne, NJ / Wayne Hills) followed with an 11-0 major decision at 174 to close the gap to 12-7.
Following a Colonel victory at 184,
Pat Schinder (Forked River, NJ / Lacey) earned a 5-4 decision victory at 197-pounds.
Kyle Cocozza (Farmingdale, NJ / Howell) earned the Lions extra-points for his pin in the heavyweight bout, narrowing the Wilkes advantage to 17-16. That was as close as TCNJ would get as the Colonel closed out the match with two straight wins.
The Lions are back on the mat Saturday, February 4 at the Messiah College Open. Action begins at 10:00 am.
