Levine Rips 100th Hit as TCNJ Splits

Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey softball team split a pair of games with Cabrini University Tuesday afternoon, falling 2-1 before rebounding for an 8-0 run rule game in the nightcap. The Lions are now 12-4 on the season, while the Cavaliers are 4-8.

In the opener, Cavaliers starter Jess Giordano scattered eight hits and allowed a single run in a defensive struggle. Cabrini's lone runs came on a two-run home run off the bat of Marissa Alpaugh.

In the second game, the Lions bats came alive early. Annalise Suitovsky (Warren Twp., NJ/Watchung Hills) led off the game with a single. Madison Levine (Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) scored her with a double to the wall in left center, her 100th career hit and 29th career double. Jess McGuire (Stockton, NJ/Hunterdon Central Regional) followed with a towering home run over the protective net in straight away center to put TCNJ up 3-0 after one.

The Lions tacked on two more in the third before Lauren Conroy (Aberdeen, NJ/Matawan Regional) blasted a three-run homer, her second of the year, to ensure the victory.

Alanna Namit (Mountainside, NJ/Governor Livingston) pitched her third shutout of the season to improve to 5-0.

The Lions now turn to conference play when they travel to Rutgers-Newark for a double header Saturday beginning at 3:00 PM.
