Ewing, NJ... In the 2018 Division III Softball Championships, The 22nd Ranked College of New Jersey Lions fell to Moravian College 4-2. With the defeat the Lions record drops to 31-10, while the 8th ranked Greyhounds improve to 33-6.Â
The Lions pushed across the first run in the game, as
Lauren Conroy (Aberdeen, NJ/Matawan) laced a ground ball to shortstop, and pinch runner
Kaitlin Kocinski (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) beat the throw home to make it 1-0 Lions.Â

Sam Platt (Cedar Grove, NJ/Mount Saint Dominic) was moving along as she did not allow any runs the first four innings. The Greyhounds were able to score a pair in the 5th inning to take the lead.Â
TCNJ answered with a run in the bottom of the 5th inning. Pinch hitter
Danielle Carey (Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) drove in pinch runner
Francesca Pugliese (Langhonre, PA/Villa Joseph Marie) with a clutch RBI single up the middle. The Greyhounds took the lead with a run in the 6th, and added an insurance run in the 7th.Â
Despite the loss, TCNJ still put forth a tremendous season. The Lions had the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, Pitcher of the Year and Coach of the Year, as well as seven All-NJAC honors. TCNJ also had two Academic All-District winners, and the 31 wins is the most in a single season since 2010.Â
