Women's Tennis Sweeps NJAC Twinbill

EWING, N.J. – The College of New Jersey women's tennis team completed a whirlwind day, sweeping Rutgers-Newark and Kean University. The Lions (5-0, 4-0 NJAC) first went on the road to defeat the Scarlet Raiders (0-3, 0-1 NJAC) before returning home and defeating the Cougars (0-1, 0-1 NJAC). TCNJ won both dual matches 9-0.

In the win at Rutgers-Newark, the Lions did not lose a single game. Liya Davidov and Brianna Chase teamed up for the first time in their collegiate careers to win at first doubles. Alyssa Baldi and Navya Yemula improved to 9-0 as a team with their win at second doubles.

Audrey Chen and Andrea Giacobbo each were victorious in singles action.

After returning home, Davidov teamed up with her normal doubles partner Katrine Luddy for an 8-1 victory. Davidov and Luddy are 9-0 on the year. Baldi and Yemula made it a perfect 10-0 with an 8-0 win. Ally Yan and Amy Yan also remained unbeaten with an 8-0 victory.

In singles play, TCNJ dropped just four games with all six Lions winning in straight sets. Davidov, Luddy, and Sarah Phung each won without dropping a game.

The Lions will look to clinch the NJAC Championship and automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament tomorrow when they visit Ramapo College, and will stay for a neutral site dual against William Paterson University. The first match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
