EWING, N.J. – The No. 22 TCNJ women's soccer team blitzed Rutgers-Camden in the first half with six goals in a 21-minute span on its way to a 6-1 victory on Wednesday night at Lions Stadium.
In the 21st minute, Gianna Coppola ripped a shot that was stopped by Camden keeper Kayla McKeever, but it led to a TCNJ corner kick. Emma Pascarella took the corner, and her entry found its way to Victoria D'Imperio. She headed it back to Kristina Ng who deposited it past McKeever for a 1-0 TCNJ lead.
Just 50 seconds later, Coppola slipped a pass right by the defense to D'Imperio. She scored on a low shot to make it 2-0. After another 1:21, TCNJ made it 3-0 in the 25th minute. D'Imperio scored this one, too, and it came thanks to a pass in traffic from Sophie Vieira.
In the 29th minute, Vieira got on the board after Pascarella sent a beautiful cross from the right side that found her on the far post. That goal made it 4-0. The Lions scored those four goals in just 8:17.
TCNJ wasn't done in the half. Ella Van Dine assisted on each of the last two goals of the period. Her cross to Cassidy DiSabato made it 5-0 in the 39th minute, and she also found Ivonne Vasquez for the team's sixth goal in the 42nd minute.
Rutgers-Camden scored the lone second-half goal.
The Lions outshot Camden, 27-6. Corinne Byrum made three saves.
With the regular season now concluded, the Lions will learn their seed in the NJAC Tournament following the rest of action around the NJAC on Wednesday night. Should the Lions remain as the No. 3 seed, they will host a to-be-determined opponent on Saturday at noon at Lions Stadium.
