ALBANY, N.Y.- In a ranked matchup Friday Night, TCNJ wrestling defeated No. 22 Castleton by a score of 16-15 at Arm Bar at the Armory.
The Lions and Spartans split the match with five wins apiece, but Quinn Haddad's 10-0 major decision victory at 184 lbs. over Sampson Wilkins gave the Lions the one-point advantage and ultimately the victory. Haddad on the young season is 3-0 with victories by way of tech fall, pin and now major decision.
Ryan Rosenthal got the action started for TCNJ at 125 lbs. and improved his record to 2-1 with a 2-0 decision win over Kaya Bogle. With the score of the bout deadlocked at zero in the third, Rosenthal had a two point near-fall to earn himself a victory and three team points for the Lions.
Domenic Difrancescantonio improved to 2-0 on the season with a late burst, scoring six out of his eight points in the third period to secure an 8-2 victory over James Rodriguez at 141 lbs.
Immediately following Difrancescantonio, Mike Conklin had another solid night on the mat with an 11-4 victory against Nicholas Roeger at 149 lbs. Conklin scored seven out of his 11 in the second period alone, putting his skills on full display.
Reid Colella earned his second victory of the season in a tight 3-1 victory at 174 lbs. against Cooper Fleming. With the score tied at one each late into the third period, a take down for Colella proved to be the difference maker as he held on for the 3-1 win.
TCNJ is right back in action on Saturday, November 19th as they take on WPI at Castleton in a tri meet with the action kicking off at 1:30 PM.
