GLASSBORO, N.J. – The No. 21 TCNJ women's soccer team traveled to No. 23 Rowan for an NJAC Tournament semifinal match on Wednesday night, pitting the ranked teams in the 2-vs.-3 matchup in the conference tournament.
Rowan scored the game's lone goal in the second half of the defensive battle, lifting the Profs into Saturday's NJAC Championship with the 1-0 victory.
In an uneventful first half, TCNJ outshot Rowan, 5-1. Emma Pascarella and Allie O'Keefe each had a shot on goal.
In the second half, Corinne Byrum made a save on a header with 30 minutes remaining, and TCNJ came down to earn a corner kick just a minute later. The Lions got the next two shots, with Gianna Coppola's going high and Victoria D'Imperio's missing wide to the right.
Just a few minutes later, Rowan scored their goal on a bouncing ball after a corner kick. Ava Morales scored the goal off of Sarah Bergan's corner kick, and that proved to be the game-winner.
TCNJ did try to put on some pressure later in the half in an attempt to even the score. Lindsay O'Keefe's shot with 16 minutes left was saved, and Pascarella and Allie O'Keefe each had shots miss the mark.
Pascarella had four shots to pace the Lions' attack, and Coppola and Allie O'Keefe each had two. Byrum made three saves.
TCNJ now awaits the NCAA selection show on Monday.
