EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ women's tennis enjoyed a successful outdoor and NJAC debut on Saturday, rolling to a 9-0 shutout of Rutgers-Camden at the Tennis Complex.
Charlotte Roarty and
Jenny Landells blanked Sarah Ahrens and Tiffany Trivers, 8-0, on the top doubles court to get the Lions started on their way to handing the Scarlet Raptors their first loss in 12 dual matches.
Anusha Rangu and
Aira Abalos dispatched Morgan Dempsey and LeAnne Hall by an 8-1 count at No. 3, and
Alexa Vasile and
Chase Eisenberg downed Samantha Hoban and Laurel DiStefano, 8-2, to seal the doubles sweep.
Rangu (No. 4) and Abalos (No. 2) double-bageled their singles opponents and Eisenberg was one game shy of doing so with a 6-0, 6-1 rout at No. 5.
Vasile defeated Tivers 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 3 flight, and Roarty posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Ahrens at No. 1 before
Morgan Grimmie ended the match with a 6-3, 6-1 defeat of Dempsey at No. 6.
The Lions' scheduled match with Wilkes on Sunday was postponed, so they'll return to action on Wednesday against Division II Wilmington.
