ST. MARY'S CITY, MD. - The TCNJ men's soccer team put together another strong performance on Sunday, defeating Salisbury 3-1 in the second game of the Seahawk Classic.
Â
Despite only having five shots on goal, the Lions capitalized on three of those opportunities.
Â
The Lions got things started quickly at the four-minute mark when
Daniel Grund settled a deflected cross, made a move to his left and took a shot with his left foot that bent into the bottom left corner of the net.
Â
The Seagulls were able to knot the game at one apiece after capitalizing on a free kick opportunity from just outside the box.
Â
Ten minutes later,
Massimo Rodio scored on a beautiful back-footed shot coming from a
Daniel Grund cross to retake the lead, 2-1.
Â
The offensive onslaught in the first half continued for the Lions just two minutes later.
Colin Kenville drew a foul in the box and
Bobby Hunter took the penalty for the Lions, depositing a goal into the bottom right corner of the net.
Â
Hunter has a point for the Lions in each of the last three games.
Â
The second half saw no goals from either team but solid defense from TCNJ, who only allowed four shots on goal for the afternoon.
Â
With Sunday's 3-1 win, this marks the first time since 2019 that the Lions have scored at least three goals in back-to-back games.
Â
TCNJ hopes to continue its solid play as the Lions head back home to play Drew University in Lions Stadium on Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
