EWING, N.J. - The TCNJ men's soccer team edged out a 2-1 victory over Muhlenberg College on Wednesday night.
It was the first goal of
Colin Kenville's career that proved to be the game-winner for the Lions. In the 73rd minute,
Bobby Hunter sent in a pass to Kenville who played it off his chest, turned around and sent a shot off the right post and into the back of the net. The assist was also the first point of Hunter's career as a Lion.
The first half featured very little scoring opportunities for both teams as there was only one shot on goal, an
Alex Quezada volley that went directly to the goalkeeper.
It did not take long for the action to pick up in the second half. The Lions got out to an early lead after halftime coming from a
Jake Gershon penalty kick. Just 45 seconds into the second half, Muhlenberg was tagged with a handball in the penalty box which set up Gershon for his second career goal.
This goal set the pace for the second half, which saw both teams combine for 22 shots compared to five in the first.
Continuing his solid play, goalkeeper
Julian Franco made it very tough for the Mules to reach the back of the net on Wednesday night. Franco had three saves including two diving stops in the second half to prevent the Mules from tying the game.
The Lions look to build off his win as they head to St. Mary's City, Maryland for the Seahawk Classic on Saturday. TCNJ will take on the host Seahawks at 3PM.
